Feature Spotlight: The Ambient Light Setting

March 10, 2015

When we first designed the Smart Alert Nightlight, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to use the device at any time of day. That’s why the Ambient Light setting was invented. We recently discovered that many nightlight owners might not even know that this useful little feature exists, which is why we’re excited to highlight it in today’s feature spotlight!

What is the Ambient Light setting? The setting allows your nightlight to seamlessly turn on when it’s dark and off when it’s light. The name itself refers to light that is already available, either inside a room or from a natural source, like the sun or moon. When you enable the Ambient Light setting, the Smart Alert Nightlight will pay attention to the brightness of the room it’s located in so you can always have light, exactly when you need it.

If you’re not using the Ambient Light feature yet, here’s how to start: Click on the gear icon at the bottom of the home screen on your Leeo app. The Ambient Light setting is listed under "Light Settings." Toggle it on and you're ready to go!

A member of the Leeo community recently discovered a useful tip for those using the feature for the first time: Check to see that you’ve removed the nightlight’s protective screen first! The screen is translucent, so it may not be obvious at first. Also keep in mind that the threshold for the Ambient Light setting is three to six lumens, so you won't see it turn off until that light level is reached.

Are you using the Ambient Light setting with your nightlight? Why or why not? Talk to us on the community page or leave a comment below.

Stay tuned for more feature spotlights coming your way soon!
